How to Go to Boracay

Everyone ask this question once they heard Boracay and how beautiful the place is - they either heard through word of mouth from a friend or through a travel book or just by browsing the net. Let this article show you some bits of information on how to go to Boracay and some info about the place that those who got there called paradise.

A brief introduction...

Boracay is an island located in Panay group of island in the western Vizayas region. It is a tiny but beautiful island with its long powdery white sandy beaches.

The island was once home to the Ati tribe, the indigenous people of the region. Originally named Bura-ukay by the locals before it was in discovered in the 1970s. The island became popular with backpackers in the 1980s.

Years ago, Boracay Island was a well-guarded secret known only to a lucky few who happen to stumble upon the island.

HOW TO GET THERE...

how to go to Boracay...

by land and sea...

as of this posting, there is no direct route from Manila to Caticlan Antique via the sea route but there is some bus line in Cubao that services the route by land although it takes a long time, maybe a day to get there. Once in Caticlan Jetty port, ride a boat that will take you to the island. Or by both land and sea, take a bus from Cubao, Quezon City in Metro Manila, to go to Batangas pier then take a ferry to go to Roxas City in Mindoro then another ferry to Caticlan. You might as well check the schedule of 2 major shipping lines, they sometimes have a route from Manila to Caticlan, just google NegrosNavigation and WGA superferry for the schedule, they include this route specially during the summer from april to late june.

NOTE: Due to airport restriction, flight might be rerouted to Kalibo airport in Kalibo Aklan, once there you can take a tricycle and ask the driver to take you to the bus station that services the Kalibo-Caticlan route.

Now that you know how to go to Boracay, let find your accommodation.

Boracay's White Beach.

Numerous accommodation types are scattered all over the island, ranging from luxurious hotel types to budget, stripped to basic rooms. Visitors can also choose according to location--cheaper lodgings are located at station 3, while Station 2 is meant for those who want to be within proximity of the bars. Station 1, is where you can find the more isolated accommodations, offering peace and quiet. These are usually for the deep pocket vacationers.

Hotels and resort have seasonal price level depending on the period of your visit, high season usually from March to June. Peak season is also during Christmas till New Year, Holy Week and Chinese New Year.

Hit the beach...

Numerous activities await you at Boracay Island either by day or night, on or off those beautiful sandy beaches. With its four kilometers of powdery white sand beach, take a walk and be mesmerized by the beauty of White sand beach. You can also enjoy a boat trip around the island. The colorful beauty of the marine life is also perfect for snorkeling. Aside from snorkeling there are lots of Boracay water sports available on every beach of the island.

Maybe relax the afternoon under the shade of palm trees and enjoy the beauty of nature. And as the sun's glare begin to fade, prepare yourself for the majestic Boracay sunset.

If it's the nightlife you like, Boracay island offers many night spots for drinks, dancing, karaoke, and other entertainment, each with its own ambience. Or simply enjoy the view from your room, suite, apartment or villa. Each night brings a new choice.
